Bonsie makes baby clothes for one specific job: keeping skin-to-skin contact easy without undressing a newborn every time. The company was founded by Anna Turcotte, a Maine mother and clinical social worker who worked with young families before becoming one herself. After her son was born, nurses taught her how useful skin-to-skin care could be for bonding, breastfeeding, and settling a brand-new baby. The problem was the clothing.
Traditional footies are not built for that kind of access. Anna’s first Bonsie idea was simple: a baby outfit that opens at the chest, keeps the rest of the body warm, and closes back up without waking the baby. Her mother-in-law sewed the first prototype. The usable version took about 18 months, plus the usual founder slog of fear, manufacturing quotes, and second-guessing.
We verified Bonsie through Anna’s own founder story and an Amazon Selling Partners profile that names Anna Turcotte, places the company in Brunswick, Maine, and describes the small team, including her husband Joseph. We found no acquisition record, corporate parent, or match in the corporate-parent exclusion list.
Bonsie’s catalog centers on footies, rompers, baby bag sets, and cuddle sacks. Most pieces use a bamboo-cotton blend and soft fasteners so caregivers can reach the baby’s chest quickly. The design is especially useful in the hospital, during newborn feeding, or on cold nights when full outfit changes feel like punishment for everyone involved.
This is a narrow product, and that is part of the appeal. Bonsie is not trying to sell an entire baby lifestyle. It solves one tender, practical problem for new parents: how to hold a baby close without turning every bonding moment into a wardrobe project.
The brand’s own materials also stay close to the evidence. Skin-to-skin care is widely used in hospitals for newborn regulation and bonding, but Bonsie does not turn that into a cure-all claim. The product simply makes the practice easier to repeat at home, which is exactly where exhausted parents need the help.
