Puresteel is an Austin, TX-based company building completely plastic-free kitchen appliances, starting with a drip-style coffee maker. Founded by a former SpaceX engineer, Puresteel was born from frustration with so-called "stainless steel" coffee makers that still use hidden plastic valves, tubes, and reservoirs that leach microplastics into every brew.

What Makes Them Clean

  • 100% plastic-free and silicone-free — every component that contacts water or coffee is medical-grade 304 stainless steel or glass
  • No hidden plastics — unlike competitors, even fittings and connectors are metal or glass
  • No PFAS, PFOA, Teflon, or non-stick coatings of any kind
  • Independent microplastic testing planned with third-party lab, results to be published publicly
  • UL or Intertek safety certification planned before shipping

Products

  • Drip-Style Coffee Maker ($80) — 12-cup (96oz) capacity, precision 200°F brewing temperature, dishwasher-safe removable steel filter and glass carafe, one-button operation

Why We List Them

  • Independent, founder-led company with a clear health-first mission
  • Radically transparent pricing — they break down exact costs (materials $45, labor $13, overhead $8, markup $14)
  • Designed and assembled in Austin, TX
  • Addresses a real gap: affordable, truly plastic-free coffee brewing (most alternatives cost $200+)
  • Pre-launch as of early 2026 with shipping targeted for mid-to-late 2026

Note: Puresteel is currently in pre-launch / reservation phase. The coffee maker has not yet shipped. We're listing them based on their transparent approach and will update once the product is available and independently tested.
