Arctic Paws makes Yummy Chummies salmon-based dog treats in Anchorage, Alaska, using wild-caught Alaskan salmon as the primary ingredient. The company started in the 1990s, born out of the state's massive commercial fishing industry and a straightforward realization: Alaska produces an abundance of high-quality salmon, dogs love salmon, and there's no good reason not to connect those two facts. What began as a regional treat brand has grown into a nationally distributed line — but production has stayed in Anchorage.

The flagship Yummy Chummies are soft, semi-moist treats made with wild-caught salmon and salmon oil. They're grain-free, corn-free, and soy-free, with a short ingredient list that most dog owners can actually read and understand. The salmon is sourced from Alaskan fisheries, which operate under some of the strictest sustainability management in the world. Alaska's constitution mandates sustainable harvest levels — it's not a voluntary certification or a feel-good label. The fish are wild, the waters are cold, and the omega-3 content is naturally high.

Salmon-based treats aren't exactly rare anymore, but most competitors use farmed salmon or salmon meal processed overseas.
