Montana Better Beef is a small, fourth-generation family ranching operation in northwest Montana raising certified organic, 100% grass-fed beef on 1,100 acres. The ranch became USDA certified organic in 2004 — "before it was cool" — and has never looked back, maintaining strict organic standards that prohibit hormones, antibiotics, and chemicals in both the cattle's diet and the land itself. The family emphasizes that they're stewarding the land for the fifth generation, who are already "growing up fast" on the ranch.
The operation practices bird-friendly grazing that supports regenerative agriculture, recognizing that "the better the soil health, the better the grass, the healthier the cow, the better the birds, and the better for you!" Their cattle spend their entire lives on open pasture from start to finish, eating what their systems are designed to eat: grass. Montana Better Beef sells exclusively within Montana through farm pickups and local deliveries, with the philosophy that "buying beef from a nearby rancher is a traditional way to buy meat."
