Mark Guidry spent years in the Louisiana oilfield before buying a 9-acre pecan orchard in Scott, Louisiana in 2014. The career pivot was deliberate. He sold his oilfield casing business, went all in on farming, and expanded quickly to a 240-acre operation outside Sunset, near Lafayette. His wife Connie and business partner Danny Hamilton round out the team.
The farm earned USDA Organic certification, which in pecan farming means no synthetic pesticides, no chemical fertilizers, and annual USDA inspections. That's a real distinction in a nut market where most conventional orchards get sprayed heavily. The Guidrys went further by building a certified peanut-free facility — a big deal for families managing severe allergies who need to know their pecan products weren't processed alongside peanuts.
Their flagship is pecan butter, which has become an Amazon's Choice item. It's a single-ingredient spread — just roasted pecans — with a rich, slightly sweet flavor that makes you wonder why peanut butter gets all the attention. They also produce cold-pressed pecan oil for cooking and finishing, pecan meal for baking, and glazed pecans for snacking.
Beyond the orchard, the farm produces raw unfiltered honey, pasture-raised eggs, and grass-fed grass-finished beef. The beef and eggs stay regional — you'd need to be in the Lafayette area for delivery — but the shelf-stable pecan products ship anywhere in the US through their website and Amazon.
The scale is still family-farm sized. Mark walks the orchard. Connie manages operations. Products go from tree to jar on the same property. For a USDA Organic farm producing nationally distributed products, that setup is uncommon — most certified organic operations that reach Amazon's Choice status have handed off production to co-packers long ago.
Louisiana's agricultural identity runs deep in rice, sugar, and seafood, but pecan orchards are a quiet part of that story. The Guidrys are building something specific within it: a certified organic, vertically integrated pecan operation that controls quality from soil to shelf. No contract manufacturers, no private-label deals. Just pecans, done right.
